Heather is a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist in the state of Florida and is an Approved Supervisor for registered interns seeking licensure in both Marriage & Family Therapy and Mental Health Counseling. She received her undergraduate degree in Psychology and her graduate degrees in Education with a specialization in Marriage & Family Therapy from the University of Florida. As a life-long Gator fan, staying in Gainesville and serving this community has been the perfect fit.
Heather specializes in working with adolescents and teens under stress and adults who have lived through difficult times as children. The majority of her clinical experience has been working with adolescents and young adults as well as their families in private practice. As such, she continues to work with many students from the Gainesville area including those attending UF and Santa Fe College. Heather's clinical case load includes diverse populations starting at age 9.
Heather's therapeutic approach is integrative, supportive, and goal-oriented. She considers herself a generalist in practice, but draws on various approaches such as narrative therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, systems theory, structural family therapy, and brief solution-focused therapy when appropriate.
She believes that the therapeutic relationship is paramount to effective treatment and works hard to co-create a healthy trusting environment with clients and their families while they are doing the hard work of therapy.
