Heather is a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist in the state of Florida and is an Approved Supervisor for registered interns seeking licensure in both Marriage & Family Therapy and Mental Health Counseling. She received her undergraduate degree in Psychology and her graduate degrees in Education with a specialization in Marriage & Family Therapy from the University of Florida. As a life-long Gator fan, staying in North Florida and serving this community has been the perfect fit.
Heather specializes in working with adolescents and teens under stress and adults who have lived through difficult times as children. Many of her clients identify as Millennials and Professionals who have experienced trauma in their families of origin and desire to seek and engage in healthier relationships with themselves and with others. Heather's clinical case load includes diverse populations starting at age 10.
Heather's therapeutic approach is integrative, supportive, goal-oriented, and trauma-informed. As a systemic therapist, that means that addressing diversity, gender, power, and other sociocultural dimensions is also an inherent part of the work. Heather also draws on various therapeutic frameworks such as Narrative Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and brief Solution-Focused Therapy when appropriate. You’ll like her style if you are craving- or open to- exploration of your inner child, befriending your body, and learning emotional intelligence.
She believes that the therapeutic relationship is paramount to effective treatment and works hard to co-create a healthy trusting environment with clients and their families while they are doing the transformative work of therapy.
